The Canadian Film Development Corporation (now called Telefilm Canada) was formed as a Crown corporation — its mandate was "to foster and promote the development of a feature film industry in Canada." Without Telefilm, we may never have seen as wide a spectrum of such Canadian films as Sylvain Chomet’s Les Triplettes de Belleville or David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises.
