Canada’s biggest ever flash flood hit Buffalo Gap, Sask., dropping 254 millimetres of precipitation in less than an hour. An agent with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool reported, “The wind was so strong it moved an empty boxcar upgrade for 500 yards and sent it 30 feet over the derailer.” The agent later went out to rescue two families, including an 87-year-old woman. He was left with over 50 black and blue marks from hail stones. And people told him being an agent with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool would be boring.
