January 11, 2010 – Toronto - The Historica-Dominion Institute is pleased to renew its partnership with Citizenship and Immigration Canada for the 2010 Mathieu Da Costa Challenge.

The Mathieu Da Costa Challenge is an annual creative writing and artwork contest that encourages youth between the ages of 9 and 18 to discover how diversity has shaped Canada’s history and the important role that pluralism has played, and continues to play, in shaping Canadian society.

“It is important to celebrate multiculturalism, especially in a country as diverse as Canada,” says Andrew Cohen, President of the Historica-Dominion Institute. “We are happy to promote this contest, and raise awareness among young people of the important contributions Canadians of different backgrounds have made to our country”.

The winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Ottawa, where they are honoured at an awards ceremony hosted by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.
